I’m teaming up with some blogger friends again for another round of Farmhouse Friends projects! Today I have a super easy DIY hose stand that will help keep your backyard organized and looking beautiful. This post contains affiliate links to recommended products. See my full disclaimer.
Anyone else have a garden hose that looks like this 99% of the time? Yeah, me too.
My husband and I decided to fix this issue with a cute & simple DIY hose stand!
What You’ll Need
- White paint or primer
- Hose hanger
- Concrete mix
- Post cap
- 4×4 lumber
- Black paint
We constructed this almost exactly the same way we built our DIY Address Post.
- Paint your 4×4. We went with white for a classic look.
- Dig a hole for your post and set it in concrete. Using a standard 6 foot post, we set 1.5 feet into the concrete and left the remaining 4.5 feet above ground. You can make your post shorter depending on how much hose you need to hang. Allow time for the concrete to set up properly.
- Paint and attach your post cap. We painted ours black for a similar look to our DIY Address Post.
- Attach the hose hanger to the post.
And DONE! Now instead of a messy pile of hose in our flower bed, we have a cute DIY hose stand to keep the hose untangled and off the ground.
It’ll look even better once my flowers start filling in behind it!

What a cute and easy project, my favorite. This is a precious way to wrangle those crazy hoses! Love the giveaway too :)
I SO need this, because our hose is just in a jumbled mess in the grass – love your version & pinned it!
Thanks, Angie! Our garden hose was such a mess too, but now it’s pretty darn cute & I actually like looking at it :) Thank you for sharing it!
Love this! We so need one of these! Going to share with my hubby I see another project coming soon! Thanks for sharing! Pinned
Thanks, Tammy! Share a picture with me if you end up building one for your yard!
This is perfect for keeping your hose neat and to make it look attractive. I’m one of those people who has to have a neat hose, (I was a horse girl and my instructor drilled that into me.) and a hanger like this definitely works. We have two on our property and I love them.
Thanks, Paula! They are so handy & I’m so glad to finally have one :)
This is so great and it’s pretty too!
Thanks, Susan!
I love how it looks! Such a pretty spot to hang a garden hose.

I definitely need this for my back yard. Perfect outdoor project!
Thanks, Amy! It’s such an easy project but it makes a big impact!
I love the hose stand you created! Hose storage can be so yucky to look at, but yours is adorable! :)
Thanks, Stacy! It sure is a lot nicer than the messy pile of hose in the landscaping!
This is so neat and clean looking! Very pretty way to tie up that hose.
What a great idea for a hose stand Meg! I love it and definitely want one for my house now!!! Pinning and sharing :)
Thanks, Tara! And thanks for sharing!

It turned out really cute. It reminds me of the lantern posts my husband and I put in our backyard. Great minds think alike!
How clever and practical!
Super cute. I love the classic, clean look and how it would keep my hose from ending up in a snarled pile on the ground.
Thanks, Meg!
I need one of these! How did you keep the post straight while the concrete was setting? I am pinning this. Thanks for sharing this at Craft Frenzy Friday on Mom Home Guide!
We mixed the concrete so it was still pretty thick & then tamped it down so it would hold up the post while it was drying. Thank you so much for pinning!

Aren’t those just the best ever Meg. We put one up a long time ago. It doesn’t look half a pretty as what yours does though, and it’s been a tidy life saver ever since. After seeing what you’ve done, I wonder if I can convince the hubby to help me makes ours look as good?
Looks beautiful and seems easy enough. Love it!
Great idea for corralling an unruly garden hose! It has lots of farmhouse charm!

Great Idea!
Did you use any particular finish for weatherproofing and waterproofing?
Hang another hose hanger upside down at the bottom, and you can wrap the hose (like the cord on a vacuum cleaner). Great idea!
